Making the Bed / das Bett machen

Nikolas has woken up the last two mornings and has been slow to come out of his room. We've heard strange rustlings and some clangings of the bed posts (which make a very odd ringing sound). When he has finally appeared, he has grabbed our hands and pulled us back into his room. "Look!" he says, pointing at his bed. "I made it!"



And indeed, he has made his bed, pulling the duvet high towards his pillows and patting it flat to smooth it out. No one ever asked him to make his bed. He just woke up and decided to do it, surprising us completely as he makes another step towards becoming a 'big boy.'
