We went to the great playground near Hellbrunn Palace the other day. It's a favorite of Nikolas', even though we've only been there one other time, because it has a zip line, a couple sand areas, lots of swings and slides, and...there's so much to do there. When it was time to leave, we saw that a woman had set up a tightrope, of sorts, between two trees next to the playground. She seemed to be checking up on a child in the playground every once in a while, and while the child was playing, she was practicing tightrope walking.
Nikolas has a picture book based on the true story of a man who set up a tightrope between the Twin Towers when they were being built back in 1974, and so he was fascinated with this woman. We watched for quite some time as the woman walked back and forth and then tried, unsuccessfully, to sit on the line, rolling off onto the grass. After a while, the woman asked Nikolas if he'd like to try and helped him cross the tightrope himself!
