Being a Tourist / eine Touristin zu sein

My cousin Kathy is in town, our first and only non-parent visitor this year. It's fun to be playing tour guide and wandering around the city as a tourist - especially without Nikolas. It's the first time since Nikolas was born that I've explored Salzburg without his agenda being first priority despite two Pennington student trips to Salzburg during his first four years and living here the last nine months. It's amazing how much you can see and what you can notice when you aren't constantly being distracted. Up at the castle, we took the tour that leads you through a few passageways and into a few rooms, all with an audioguide explaining much of Salzburg's history, and I actually learned some new things. You can also pack a lot more in a day when you aren't always having to take snack breaks and play breaks and souvenir/bribery breaks!
