Back to the Milk Automat / Zurück zum Milch-Automaten

Today we took our empty soda bottle and our 70 cents in exact change and headed back to the milk automat. This time Nikolas rode his own bike, about a mile and a quarter in each direction, streaking along in great anticipation for fresh milk.

It's an easy to use machine. You simply place your bottle on the little stand with the mouth under the nozzle (ours was too tall to fit, but no worries - it was a perfect fit for the nozzle I held it at an angle) and deposit your money. Instantly a little green light turns on, a pumping sound can be heard, and milk comes gushing out into your bottle. And the milk is cold!

Our trip home was quicker than the ride there, Nikolas really streaking along this time. If we had been thinking we would have brought cups and a snack right to the barn yard, but instead we had to wait until we got home to try it.

The verdict? Delicious! It's the tastiest milk any of us has every tasted and just the right companion to newly discovered totally delicious chocolate chip cookies from Hofer!
