Innsbruck

We're back from Innsbruck and have some catching up to do. It was a wonderful trip with spectacular weather and beautiful sights. The highlight of the trip for me was taking three sets of cable cars to the top of a mountain overlooking the city. The view was amazing and there was snow in the mountain range opposite us. Traveling with college students instead of high school students was interesting. Most notably:
1) They try to use their German whenever they can.
2) They are awake in the morning and actually eat a hearty breakfast.
3) They like museums! It took far longer to get through museums than we expected.
4) They're adults and so don't need minding all the time. At the summit of the mountain (2,256 meters) we said, "Bye! See you tomorrow!" and then laughed the whole way down.

Nikolas was very interested in all the photos the students were taking and so did some photo taking of his own (which resulted in more than a few fights over the camera). He experimented with how one gets the best shot - paying attention to what you are photographing, randomly pushing the button, waving the camera as you take the picture, and spinning around while taking pictures. Nikolas and I came home an afternoon early so that he wouldn't miss a third day of school or his class picture. Luckily we had reserved seats on the train as it was jam packed with people standing in the aisles. We were squashed into a cabin with six seats that were already filled with four large men when we got on board. Nikolas wasn't too excited about it (and neither was I), but he recovered after eating a large chocolate bar. When we arrived in Salzburg, I had that feeling you get when coming home after a trip, a sense of relief and familiarity, which surprised me. It was good to get back to Salzburg.
