We've arrived! / Wir sind angekommen!

We arrived yesterday, late morning, after a smooth flight. For those of you making the flight from Philly to Munich on US Air, be sure you aren't sitting in row 11 which backs up to the toilets so the seats can't recline and you are entertained with the woosh of flushing toilets all night long. Amazingly, all our luggage arrived with us, and we made it to Salzburg without a hitch.


We are all amazingly excited to be here, and Nikolas seems to have taken to city life easily. We've already walked to the grocery store, taken a bus ride, and wandered downtown. Dinner was at a restaurant with an outdoor garden overlooking the Salzburg Dom (cathedral). Life in a city with a castle is good.


Back at the apartment, we are completely discombobulated, having to sift through all of our baggage in search of things, which as we sift seem to be ending up in random piles. There's a brown sneaker of Nikolas' that is floating around among the piles and seems to be mateless. Hopefully we'll get more settled today. Where to put things is a big question in our minds. The apartment is so full of STUFF, a lot of which really needs to be tossed, and so a fair amount of cleaning up and clearing out has to be done first. It will take some time, but we are looking forward to making it feel like home.

Nikolas and I were up sitting in the kitchen at 1:30am, suffering from jet lag, eating chocolate orange cookies that, according to Nikolas, "...smell like Germany." They do smell Germany, well, Austria that is. Yum!
